The role of the key worker is to be a friend and a link between the client and management. Key workers are expected to work closely with individuals and their families offering advice and assistance when needed in conjunction with the care plans. Key workers can do personal shopping, purchase birthday gifts and Xmas shopping for the members of their key worker groups. Time management is important and key workers are expected to devote some one to one quality time with each of their residents every week. If a key worker is not available then they should arrange for their deputy to spends some individual time with the clients. Any activities outside of the home need to be discussed with the Manager to eliminate any key worker needing to use their own time to carry out key worker duties.
